 TWO WAY INTERACTIVE TELEVISION

Two way interactive television causes use microwave and telephone technology to create synchronous videoconference environments. Students may participate at the home site where teacher is or at any receive site that is closer to home or work.

 

TELECOURSES

Telecourses are professionally produced classes that include videotapes, workbooks and textbooks. Students work independently and can finish early. An instructor is assigned to each course to guide students through the material and testing. Telecourses lessons are available at various sites through out the district of a given College or University, and also may be viewed over local cable channels. In addition, full rental sets of telecourses are available for most courses through the telecourse office. Telecourses are described in each College or University's semester credit schedule.

 

CABLE AT THE HOME

Each Semester, selected two-way interactive television classes are also sent out over a cable or satellite television channels by various Colleges or Universities. Students registered for these classes can watch the classes at home.

Interaction is achieved when students phone in and participating in a class audio conference. Homework assignments are sent by mail or e-mail. For a list of cable to the home classes, students should check each semester credit course schedule.

 

DISTANCE LEARNING

Distance Learning provides a variety of courses to students seeking a degree; work in the business place and community members with special Interests. Over the years it's been an effective learning system for busy adults.

Using new and Innovative technology, Colleges and Universities are able to offer students four formats that save students traveling time and allow for flexible scheduling. Students can take online courses, Classes taught via two-way interactive television, telecourses and cable to the home classes.

 

CERTIFICATES AND DISTANCE LEARNING DEGREES

 

By Combining Telecourses and Online Courses, students can pursue:

ü      An Associate in Arts

ü      An Associate in Science

ü      An Associate in General Studies

Areas of Concentration include Economic, Criminal justice, English, Liberal Arts, Philosophy, Sociology, Psychology, Business, Management Information Systems or Computer science.

Students pursuing a certificate can earn 30-hour General Studies Certificate of Achievement. For more information, please contact us.

 

ONLINE COURSES

 

Today, Colleges and Universities offer more than 100 online courses. New courses are added each semester. Learners can use a home computer with an Internet connection or a computer at a College or university, Internet Cafe, Local Library or a learning center that allow free use.

Online courses require students to a follow calendar of activities since each course has a Start Date and an End Date.

Online courses are interactive in that:

ü      Students can email their teacher

ü      Fellow students

ü      Access the bulleting board for class information

ü      Enter into a chat room for real-time discussion.

Streaming Video, supplemental videotapes and CD-ROMS are also used in select classes.
